HELVIA DICO Series: Elegant and Reliable IP66 Column Speakers

From an electroacoustic standpoint, the real innovation lies in the driver configuration. Both models employ exclusive 50 × 90 mm elongated full-range transducers, known as runway-shaped drivers, offering performance equivalent to conventional 2.5" loudspeakers. Combined with a dedicated 1" point-source tweeter, this design creates a true miniature line array system.

The DICO-C50 incorporates two full-range drivers, while the DICO-C100 features four, doubling the physical length of the column to generate a more consistent and extended cylindrical wavefront.

The practical result is a more uniform sound pressure level over longer distances compared to traditional point-source loudspeakers.

Vertical dispersion is tightly controlled at 20°, while the wide 140° horizontal coverage significantly reduces unwanted ceiling and floor reflections. This makes the DICO Series particularly effective in reverberant environments such as lecture halls, auditoriums and houses of worship, where speech clarity and vocal intelligibility across the 120 Hz–20 kHz frequency range are essential.

A fundamental engineering feature is the speaker's completely sealed construction. HELVIA has equipped the DICO Series with waterproof cable and connector protection, guaranteeing IP66 certification.

This rating ensures total dust protection and resistance to powerful water jets from any direction, making the DICO Series the ideal solution not only for elegant indoor environments but also for demanding outdoor installations continuously exposed to the elements, including patios, terraces, gardens and architectural walkways.
