From Saturday 4 to Sunday 12 May 2019 the 16th edition of the Enrico Mercatali International Classical Guitar Festival will be held in Gorizia, which will include the prestigious guitar competition (intended for all categories of soloists and chamber music with guitar), the concert review "Great Performers in Concert ”, international Masterclasses on guitar technique and musical interpretation held by Masters of international reputation, lutherie conferences, lutherie exhibitions and visual arts exhibitions.

The central core of the Festival will take place in Gorizia at the Concert Hall of Palazzo De Grazia, while some events, realized in collaboration with the Municipal Administration of Cormòns, will take place at the Civic Hall of Palazzo Locatelli in Cormòns.

The international initiative is dedicated to the cultural education of young people and since the first edition to date we have seen a progressive growth of participants coming not only from Europe, but also from Japan, China, the United States and Australia. The winner of the previous 2018 edition was the Hungarian artist Sidoo Zsombor, while in 2017 the prestigious Mercatali Prize went to the Australian Campbell Diamond.

The Mercatali is twinned with prestigious international festivals and offers every year to the winner of the VI category (concert artists without age limits) the opportunity to perform in important international showcases. The international significance of the festival is also confirmed by the support of important brand from musical instruments industry. Makers of strings and guitar accessories, known worldwide offering their products in homage to the winning competitors. In this role Frenexport is glad to participate for the third consecutive year as a sponsor, offering a Toledo Julia 44CG guitar from the Europa series as a prize for a section of the competition.
